If your vehicle is beginning to have starting problems relating to the auto electric system, the six warning signs below may look or sound familiar to you. If so, your car may have a problem that is commonly associated with starters or alternators, and needs some form of auto electric service. Unfortunately, ignoring a problem doesn’t fix it! Instead, you will end up with real car problems ranging from “slow” starts to a car that refuses to start at all.
* Dashboard Warning Lights – Don’t ignore them, hoping they will go off on their own. These lights are indicators that something needs immediate attention.
* Strange Sounds – If your engine is starting to make strange sounds you’ve never heard before, schedule an inspection as soon as possible.
* Burning Smell – A burning smell could be caused by over-heating auto electric connections, indicating a circuit or fuse malfunction.
* Dim Lights – This is a significant indicator of an auto electric issue. If the alternator is failing, the car battery won’t keep a charge to run the lighting system.
* Dead Battery – This is especially common during the winter months when lights are on for longer periods of time. Lights left on with the car turned off may also result in a dead battery. A simple jump-start should take care of the immediate problem, but don’t forget to have your battery checked to see if it needs to be replaced. Weak batteries can cause damage to starters and alternators.
* Electrical Malfunctions — A single little wire or connection that is broken can lead to a series of electrical malfunctions. A simple auto electric repair, such as reconnecting an on-line fuse or connection can bring life back to your car.
